RETROUVAILLES

SOMEWHERE, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

Retrouvailles is a game about loss and a journey through Algeria, from the sea to the desert. Set in the 1980s, it follows the small, familiar things that can bring a forgotten moment suddenly close: the smell of an object, sunlight on a wall, wind through an open window. Déjà vu becomes a quiet companion. A place feels known, even when the reason is still out of reach.

The journey moves from harbors and coastal cliffs to winding mountain roads, cities above deep gorges, and the open country beyond. Green gives way to stone and sand. A bend in the road or the shape of a distant ridge can feel like the beginning of a memory; sand falling through the fingers can bring back something words cannot. Still at its beginning, the project is exploring these fragments through landscapes inspired by photographs of Algeria, leaving room for recognition before explanation.
